InEnTec’s Management Committee acts as a board of directors, overseeing the business and electing officers.
E. Gary Cook, Ph.D Chairman of the Management Committee Dr. Cook has served as Chairman of the Management Committee since 2002. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, a building products company. He also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of InEnTec Chemical LLC, InEnTec's joint venture with Lakeside Energy. Dr. Cook received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and University. He joined E. I. DuPont in 1969 as a Research Chemist. He spent 23 years with DuPont, holding a variety of senior management positions, including Vice President of Medical Products, Vice President and General Manager of Publishing and Printing, and Vice President-Corporate Plans. He joined Ethyl Corporation as Senior Vice President and President-Chemicals Group and Director in 1992. In 1994, the Chemicals Group was spun off from Ethyl as the Albemarle Corporation as an independently traded specialty chemical company. Dr. Cook served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Albemarle. He was named Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Witco Corporation in 1996. He served in that capacity until the merger of Witco and Crompton and Knowles in 1999, at which time he was named Chairman of the merged company, CKWitco. Dr. Cook has served on numerous industry association boards, including those of the Chemical Manufacturers Association, the Soap and Detergent Association, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, and the Health Industry Manufacturers Association. Daniel R. Cohn, Ph.D Vice Chairman of the Management Committee Dr. Cohn received an AB from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Physics from MIT. Dr. Cohn was a co-founder of InEnTec and CEO from 1996 to 2000. Dr. Cohn is a senior research scientist at the MIT Energy Initiative and is currently Executive Director of the MIT Study on the Future of Natural Gas. He has been a member of the MIT research staff since 1971. Dr. Cohn's research has been primarily in the area energy and environmental technology, particularly involving applications of plasmas. He was Head of the Plasma Technology Division of the Plasma Science and Fusion Center. Dr. Cohn is also a co-founder and CEO of Ethanol Boosting Systems, LLC, a company that is developing high efficiency engine technology for cars and trucks. Dr. Cohn is a holder of 30 U.S. patents and also related foreign patents, and is a co-inventor on some of InEnTec's key patents. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 publications in journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and a member of the American Nuclear Society where he served as Chairman of the Fusion Energy Division. Dr. Cohn was Editor of the Journal of Fusion Energy from 1984 to 1992. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Cohn was a recipient of an R&D 100 Award for development of technologically significant new products in 1994, 1995 and 1998. He was the winner of the Discover Award for Technological Innovation in Transportation in 1999. Back to Top
Jeffrey E. Surma Mr. Surma holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University. In 1985, he joined Battelle PNNL and has been involved in several design projects in the area of high level radioactive and hazardous waste treatment. Mr. Surma previously led the Electrochemical Engineering Group in developing technologies for remediation and waste treatment based on electrochemical principles. He has also managed projects involving a variety of vitrification technologies. Through these projects, Mr. Surma has been involved in the design of radioactive waste technologies at various U.S. Department of Energy installations. Additionally, he was program manager for the MK-42 Processing Project which involved processing special nuclear materials for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. Mr. Surma has received citations for his work including the Pacific Northwest Directors Award for excellence in engineering in 1990 and the R&D 100 Award in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1998. In addition to his position at Battelle PNNL, he has been on staff at MIT's Plasma Fusion Center as a Visiting Engineer. Mr. Surma has been the author or presenter of over 45 technical papers, has been awarded 13 U.S. patents and has managed a broad multi-institution research program investigating DC arc plasma processing of mixed wastes, involving Battelle PNNL, MIT and T&R Associates. Larry Dinkin Mr. Dinkin has an extensive background in business startups and management and is one of the founders of InEnTec. He has been the key individual involved in the startup of three prior successful companies. The most recent of these companies, Marie Callender Retail Foods, was grown during Mr. Dinkin's tenure from a startup in 1987 with $2 million of venture capital to a business with over $160 million in sales in 1994 and was sold in September 1994 to Con Agra. During his career, Mr. Dinkin has received several business awards, including Long Island Entrepreneur of the Year from Inc. Magazine and a Clio Award for his Marie Callender design work. He was featured in the June 26, 1995 issue of Advertising Age magazine in the "Marketing 100" (the 100 hottest marketing successes) for the Marie Callender concept. Prior to his startup and management career, Mr. Dinkin was employed as a computer consultant at Univac, and at Coopers and Lybrand. Mr. Dinkin is the largest individual investor in InEnTec. Herman Fialkov Mr. Fialkov has been an advisor to InEnTec since 1996. He was founder and President of General Transistor Corporation, which he merged with General Instrument Corporation in 1960. There he established the pioneering large-scale integrated circuit division, later spun off as the present Microchip Technology, Inc. Later, as Senior Vice President for Corporate Development, he was instrumental in the acquisition of Jerrold Electronics, placing General Instrument in a leadership position in the emerging cable television market. He is a General Partner of PolyVentures, a Long Island, NY venture firm that invests in startup and early stage technology ventures. From the 1960s to the present, as a General Partner of Geiger & Fialkov LP, PolyVentures, and as President of Aleph Null Corporation, Mr. Fialkov financed and helped develop many successful companies. He was among the founding investors in Intel and Teledyne. Other successful investments include Xynetics, Inc., which was sold to General Signal, which later spun out its components as Ultratech Stepper, and Electroglas, Inc. He was a founding or early stage investor in Standard Microsystems, Microsemi Corp., EIS International, DSP Group, DSP Communications, and OPAL. He was President and later Chairman of Standard Microsystems during its early growth period. Mr. Fialkov is an engineering graduate of New York University and is a trustee of Polytechnic University. Nicholas Pappas, Ph.D. Dr. Pappas is the former Chairman of the Board of Chemfab Corp. and a former Director and Member of the Board of Nova Chemicals and Crompton Chemicals. Dr. Pappas was President and Chief Operating Officer of Rollins Environmental Services and later Vice Chairman of the Board from July 1991 to March 1996. Dr. Pappas retired from the DuPont Company in December 1990 after approximately 34 years of service where he was Executive Vice President and a member of Dupont's Executive Committee. Back to Top
Andrew B. Krieger Mr. Krieger served as the investment banker who completed the private placements of securities for InEnTec. He is presently the Senior Managing Director of Northeast Securities, Inc., a broker-dealer clearing through J.P. Morgan. In addition, Mr. Krieger owns and is president of Krieger Associates, a financial planning firm with an asset management division. Mr. Krieger is the Managing Partner of two limited partnerships invested in venture capital funds. In addition, he serves on their advisory boards and valuation committee. Mr. Krieger has served as the investment banker for Scorpion Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and has been instrumental in spearheading their financing of $120M in equity capital. Scorpion is a member of an exclusive group, licensed as a small business investment company (SBIC) by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). Previously, he served as Managing Director of a New York based law firm and founded and sold an investment banking and brokerage firm. Mr. Krieger has 40 years of experience in the financing and securities industry and has provided investment banking and venture capital services for more than 50 companies. Mr. Krieger has been a founder of a number of these companies, served on most of their boards as a director, and was an ongoing consultant for the majority of these companies for a number of years. Charles A. Galford Mr. Galford has extensive experience in law, business development, marketing, public relations and media strategies. Mr. Galford received his BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Yale Law School. He has been a partner in two major Northwest law firms and worked as a marketing executive at Nike, where he helped devise Nike’s Air Jordan and Nike Air strategies. Mr. Galford has owned and operated a sports marketing firm and served as an owner/managing member of a company providing economic development services, including casino development and management, to various Native American tribes. Throughout his career, Mr. Galford has worked for and/or consulted with a large number of Indian tribes and Alaska Native Corporations. Mr. Galford serves as vice-president and board of directors member for various companies owned by the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, which is located in northern California and has developed several successful business enterprises. The Paskenta Tribe is a major investor in InEnTec and, through one of its companies, Tepa LLC, is a joint venture partner with InEnTec for the development of federal contracts using the PEM™.
